The Last Post - for a while

Well my friends I am off to sea for the week so this will be my last missive for around 10 days. I am off sailing on HMAS Newcastle, which is heading up to Cairns.

I then will be flown back to Sydney on Friday night and pretty much jump straight into the car so the Guvnr and I can head up to the Blue mountains for the annual Queen's Birthday Ball, which is always a great weekend. Back home Monday.

One thing I have been remiss in mentioning in my blog is the fact that after several years of saying that I should, I finally worked up the courage to go to Drama School!! Yes the Drama Queen is going to Drama Lessons.....no comment necessary there. I am doing it with the Darlinghurst Theatre Company and it has so far been excellent, both in learning confidence, and the sheer fun of it all. I certainly didn't think that acting could be so much fun.

This week marks the halfway point in the course and, if i was going to be here and not sent off to sea, would be receiving my monologue. At the end of the course in mid July I have to give it not only to a live audience, but to a live paying audience!! To say that I am a little nervous of the whole performance would be a gross understatement. Thankfully, or maybe not, the audience will be filled with all the performers friends and family who pay a staggering $5 to watch us at our acting debut.

Even though the monologues are only around 3-5 min in length, it is still at this point in time a daunting challenge, but one that I am looking forward to. Mainly to proove to myself that I CAN get up infront of an audience and speak without stammering and speaking so quickly that the 5 min monologue is delivered in 30 sec.

Let's just hope that the saying, "it will be alright on the night", is true.

Well that is about all I have for now and so I shall go and talk to you all again in about 10 days on our return from the Mountains. Look after yourselves and take care of each other.

Love & Hugs

Simon
